Woodwork Sessions at Cornerstone Academy

The new academic year brings a new cohort of students attending our Woodwork Sessions. Coordinated and set up by The Power House with volunteer Mike and Bel working with Cornerstone Academy’s Design Technology Technician Mr Ledger.

Four students attended the first session, making signs … and we need one for our new Cloakroom … (Mike, any chance you can do your amazing wonder and make this happen please?! 😊)

The sessions are now seeing 10 students attending and we love this.

It is our plan to work towards setting up a Community Shed if that is something you the community wants. A place for men, women, young people, and potentially those with additional needs to make things. For themselves and in some cases to sell in the hub. Neatly dovetailing with the Upcycling Café Sessions to decorate pieces and use techniques to create beautiful items for your home or to sell.

As we speak, we are about to apply for funding to include a short pilot project of Community Woodwork sessions. If successful, we will use this project to start engaging with the community to see if this is something you would like … there is a perfect opportunity, a secret space at the hub that we could take on! 😉

Could you please spare a few minutes to complete this hub questionnaire and short poll. Grab a cuppa, make yourself comfortable. It takes 5-10 minutes depending how much you want to put in. If you would like woodwork sessions
