Growing Success: Celebrating Our Wins at the Upton in Bloom Horticultural Show

This year, our green-fingered volunteers did us proud once again by taking part in the Upton in Bloom Horticultural Show — and coming home with even more prizes!

Building on last year’s victory with our award-winning runner beans, this time we took first place for our French beans, showing that all those hours of care, composting, and teamwork really do pay off.

A special thank you goes to our friends at Muddy Boots, whose expertise and enthusiasm helped nurture our potatoes and onions — both of which won prizes this year! We were especially thrilled to take home our first-ever trophy for the biggest onion, weighing in at an impressive 832 grams.

These wins are more than just ribbons and trophies — they celebrate the community effort, shared knowledge, and joy that goes into every patch of soil. From planting to harvest, it’s a team effort that brings together people of all ages and abilities to grow, learn, and laugh together.

Here’s to another season of growth, friendship, and the simple magic of seeing what can happen when a community comes together to get its hands in the soil.

Not only did we win at Upton In Bloom (for a second year in a row! 2 out of 2 years winners! Result!) but we also had a “Guess the weight of our Winning Onion” competition … Well done Elaine you were the closest, just pipping Alix to it!
