At The Power House, we believe creativity belongs to everyone.
We know that taking part in creative activities can bring joy, build confidence, spark new ideas and help people connect with the world around them.
Yet too many people face barriers to accessing creative opportunities, whether through cost, confidence, circumstance or simply not knowing where to begin.
That's why we create welcoming spaces where people can come together to make, grow, learn, share and create.
Through arts, crafts, gardening, making, volunteering and community projects, we provide opportunities for people of all ages to discover their creativity and build meaningful connections with others.
Based in Hamworthy, Poole, The Power House is a place where creativity and community come together. Some people join us to learn a new skill, some to meet others who share their interests, and some simply to enjoy spending time in a friendly and inspiring environment.
Whatever brings someone through our doors, they are welcomed as part of the community.

Whether people are working side-by-side in the garden, making something new, sharing a meal, joining a workshop or simply spending time together, The Power House helps people build meaningful connections with their neighbours and community.

Creativity sits at the heart of everything we do.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of creativity, regardless of their background, age or circumstances. Through arts, crafts, making, growing and creative wellbeing activities, we help people explore new ideas, develop skills, express themselves and discover strengths they may not have realised they had.
Creativity helps people grow in confidence, see things differently and find new ways to engage with the world around them.
Contribute
Everyone has something valuable to offer.
The Power House is shaped by the people who take part. We encourage people to share their skills, volunteer their time, contribute ideas and help create opportunities for others. We ask the community want they want from us, and the programme takes shape from there.
By working alongside residents, schools, community groups, health services and local organisations, we help create a stronger, more connected community where people can play an active role and make a positive difference.
Our ambition
Our ambition is to contribute to a Hamworthy where everyone has the opportunity to connect, create and contribute.
Through creativity, participation and partnership, we aim to build stronger relationships, increase access to creative opportunities and support communities to thrive. As The Power House continues to grow, we will keep creating welcoming spaces where people can come together, share experiences and shape the future of their community.
Our long term vision for a purpose built community arts centre still holds, but in the meantime we'll continue with the spaces we've developed to reach more people and to build the sense of belonging towards realising our end goal.
