Meet Stephanie, one of our Youth Space volunteers

Every week, young people come to The Power House to try new activities, spend time with friends and take part in things that matter to them. These opportunities are only possible because people in our community choose to give their time.

When you meet Stephanie, it is easy to wonder how she finds the time. Between family life, her work as an artist, studying and her role within the youth justice system, she has plenty to keep her busy. Yet this summer, she still found time to volunteer with our youth programme, helping support activities and create opportunities for local young people.

One of the things Stephanie enjoyed most was our brunch sessions.

"I really enjoyed our brunch sessions. There's something rewarding about making food together and then sitting down to eat it as a group."

Her favourite memory came at the end of summer during our gratitude circle.

"Hearing what the young people had to say about the space was really special. Hearing how much they enjoyed being there made it all worthwhile."

Like many volunteers, Stephanie found that she gained something too.

"It just shows that you never know where volunteering might lead or who you're going to meet."

And her message to anyone thinking about volunteering?

"Definitely go for it. You get a lot out of it. It's a chance to make a difference in your community and help create a safe and fun space for young people."
