Cornerstone Patch Volunteers Celebrated by The Mayor, Poole's MP, and Hamworthy's Ward Councillor

On 31st May we welcomed the new Mayor of Poole Cllr Mark Howell (one of The Power House’s co-Founders) and Neil Duncan-Jordan MP to Cornerstone Patch to help us celebrate our wonderful volunteers. With the first of our Harvest Feasts.

This year, as focus turned to setting up the hub with the few funding applications for Cornerstone Patch to bring forward the ramp, fencing, and other accessible features, the Patch has undergone a huge transformation.

Thanks to Bel coordinating a fantastic bunch of local people - adults and young people - to show what many hands with donations, and only a little amount of cash can do!

Neil was shown round by Bel and was shown the various elements of the Patch, including the newly named Edible Eden on top of the old swimming pool.

They have installed hotbeds, a flower patch, wild flower patch, mud kitchens, bug hotels.

Poole Men's Shed installed trellis arches between raised beds to increase our growing capacity.

Young people and volunteer Mike who attends the Woodwork Sessions we run for Cornerstone Academy students, with the help of the school’s Design Technology Technician Mr Ledger, constructed brassica cages. Kupa going on to make a Cornerstone Patch sign with QR code for session information on our website What's On page. Students and Patch Youth Volunteers also made our beautiful Apothecary Patch and pond once the second phase of excavation revealed a patio area behind the old footbath.

As well as our wonderful volunteers, we are celebrating our tadpoles growing legs! 💖
