Garden Glow Lights Up the Season with Community, Warmth and Wonder
Our first-ever Garden Glow event truly lived up to its name — a glowing success filled with warmth, connection and a little bit of starry-sky magic.
As dusk fell, the garden came alive with simmering soup, shining lanterns and the familiar crackle of marshmallows roasting over the fire. More than 60 wonderful people joined us to share food, stories and the simple joy of being together outdoors, proving just how powerful community spaces can be, even as the evenings grow colder.
We were delighted to welcome both new and familiar faces, including Neil Duncan-Jordan MP and the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mark Howell, who came along to see how far the garden has come since the start of the growing season. The evening was a celebration of many months of hard work — and judging by the empty bowls and plates, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the fruits of that labour. There truly wasn’t a morsel left!
A huge thank you goes to Grounded Community Charity, who helped us transform our foraged apples into the most delicious Mulled Apple Juice, warming hands and hearts alike. We’re also incredibly grateful to Erika Sloper from Waste Not Want Not for providing a mountain of bread that kept everyone well-fed and cosy around the fire. And, of course, none of this would have been possible without our amazing volunteers, who quite literally lit up the garden.
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing the garden glow under the soft light of volunteer-made lanterns. These beautiful creations are now available to buy at Powerhouse Poole between now and Christmas — a perfect way to take a little Garden Glow magic home with you.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to share that our Saturday Socials will continue throughout the winter, running from 10:30am to 1pm. There will be plenty of opportunities to keep warm by the fire, enjoy the garden in a new season, and welcome even more people into this growing community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our first Garden Glow such a memorable evening. We can’t wait to do it all again.
