Planting, weeding and growing together

Remember when we had rain? It feels like a long time ago now!

Back in June, Melanie, a gardener and trained horticultural therapist, visited the Cornerstone Community Patch during one of its Open Days. The weather wasn’t kind, but we still had a nice turnout of volunteers and friends.   

Through her work Melanie is very aware of the power that growing spaces can have on people’s wellbeing.   She enjoyed talking to the team and hearing about the projects that are underway in the Patch, from the growing beds, with a range of vegetables, to the apothecary corner, with herbal remedies. 

Melanie was very impressed with all the work that has been done and the enthusiasm of the volunteers to create a space that is welcoming and brings people together through the shared joy of gardening.  She’s looking forward to joining the team in some weeding and planting.

Since Melanie’s visit, the garden has continued to grow and develop, helped along by plenty of sunshine and a lot of watering!
